  1. Looks good to me! We still need to get our packing list organized (We dropped a barf-worthy amount of money on clothes/electronics this weekend)… but I’ll be referring to yours for sure.

    1. Hey Kim! Yeah we did a trial run of packing our packs this past weekend which was scary! Ha! Looks like my back and arm muscles will be much stronger come this summer 🙂 Can’t believe your time is almost here. So happy for you guys. Perhaps our paths will cross!

  2. Great list guys, very helpful for my own imminent trip 🙂

    1. Where you heading Maddie? Have a blog we can follow?

      1. We’re from the UK and starting in Canada & the U.S and then heading west from there, that part is all unknown at the moment! I’m just busy setting up a blog at the mo but will send you the link when it’s done. Thanks again for the useful packing tips 🙂

      2. I actually did a bike tour of the US last year if you want to get some ideas – http://www.work2ride.com

  3. Why a doorstop?

    1. So we have read a ton of travel blogs that recommend having a sturdy doorstop with you. If you’re staying in a more sketchy than normal hostel or hotel it can be placed on the inside and act as an additional stop if someone tries to get in your room. It won’t prevent them from entering, but it will at least give you some extra time to realize what is going on!

  4. How is the “Contact Lens Case full of Hair gel” holding up? Do you want me to forward on some more gel? As you are repping the USA you need to make a good impression on the natives!!!

    1. haha, I thought I might run out within a years time so the wife gave me a small TSA approved container. Let the repping continue! 🙂

  5. Do you have any regrets or amendments about your packing list? I am just getting started and have found a lot of lists from the beginning of peoples journey. I always wonder how it turned out, what they missed that they needed, what they brought that they didn’t, whether the wished they opted for more or fewer bags. Any lessons learned or post-trip-tips? Thanks!

    1. For sure checkout our tips page and skip down to the personal opinions bullet (blue jeans, umberella, etc…)

I will have to checkout your blog as we love catching people on the eve of their adventures

  6. Thank you for the reply! That was exactly what I was looking for 🙂 Great stuff!
